Exploring maths 1 (by@ria_chanana)

Hello,
I was away on the first lesson and apparently we did series. It seems really weird that a series with positive numbers can result in a negative answer that is a fraction. Challenge of Mathematics seems very different from normal maths but its interesting and makes you think outside the box.

If I was asked to choose a topic, I would choose Cryptography because it looks like an interesting topic and it will be fun learning about code breaking etc. However I would also like to study all the other topics because they all look fun.

Yeah I got twitter (@6arnu9)

Hello

I learnt maths was more confusing than ever, I mean how does 1+2+3+4+5….. =       -1/12. This was really suprising because what everyone was expecting was a really huge number, and it really stumped us. I don’t really have a particular topic I want to learn, so I guess all of them.

Thank you

I am thinking. @iamjazzyh

Good day to y’all,
Ever since the very first lesson, i am itching to go to the next one. Never had I thought that Mathematics would be this intriguing or interesting, but the mathematically-right answer on the board that was staring me in the face made me question everything about maths. Is -1/12 truly a value we can place on the sum of all natural numbers, against the logic that we are ADDING POSITIVE numbers? An unexpected outcome and one which excites me about the rest of this course. I learned that there is always something new to learn, and that when it comes to mathematics, you shouldn’t underestimate its value and complexity.
Looking through the list, the topic on Paradoxes and also the one on Cryptography caught my eye. I want to learn more about paradoxes simply because of the mystery surrounding them, like an unsolved crime. Cryptography would be a new thing to me, so i look forward to the topic.

HOMEWORK @winstonfoo8

In relation to what we learned on Tuesday, I found it quite interesting about the fact that infinity could be reduced to a simple fraction although i am still baffled by it. As for the interesting topic, to be honest, the first topic that caught my eye was Play: The Mathematics behind games. I never knew there was a concept of mathematics behind games. It would be interesting to learn about such a topic.

Astonishing Maths :) (by@glittermehak98)

Yesterdays’s lesson was quite surprising as I learnt that maths can be quite startling!!!!!. I found this lesson to be so much different to our normal maths lessons. I believe that in this course i’m going to unwind loads of surprises each lesson.

Paradox is the topic that I would like to explore because looking at numbers with a persepective in different equations seems really interesting to me!!

Heyy! 🙂

The main thing that I learnt from yesterday’s
lesson is that there are many ways to interpret different questions. It showed
me that Maths is a very analytical, and the answer will not necessarily be what
you think. I feel as though this lesson changed my understanding of numbers,
and uncovered a new layer of interpretation.

The topic that I am looking forward to is “Math
Error: What it means to be undefined” I think this is an interesting topic, and
I am looking forward to understanding it.

Hey Sir,

Yesterday I learnt that maths is a huge contradiction in  itself. It allows for no vagueness as seen when three seemingly different series’ linked together and effectively all “equaled” each other and although the answer was there as (-1/12), I also learnt that the ‘answer’ still causes much debate as it leaves so much unanswered. To sum it up (maths pun because I can), maths seems like a complete new ‘world’  where numbers are the language.

Anyways, I find the idea of cryptography to be intriguing as it’s something I’m hearing about in mathematics for the first time.
