Ideas for Maths Artwork (by @happynikitakk)

Here are my ideas for the mathematics artwork assignment:

1. A human face drawn in the Golden ratio, with fractals drawn within the face.

2. An eye, with a fractal instead of an eyeball.

3. A human hand, placed on top of a tablecloth. The tablecloth pattered with a large fractal design, slightly crumpled and disfigured by the hand.

Three art ideas (by @T_of_the_P)

Three ideas that I’m interested in doing for the art design are:

1. Pythagoras tree

2. Sierpinski’s Pentagon

3. Golden Ratio Spiral

4. If possible, I would really like to do a Mandelbrot set, although I doubt I would be able to do a decent job at it as it is very precise and I would have to go down to the millimetre.

Video Lesson (by @iamjazzyh)

Donald Duck in Mathmagic Land:In this video, the ideas of maths being presented were how maths was in music and also a variety of games. I never knew there was more to Pythagoras other than his triangle theorem! I also found it interesting that games would include mathematical concepts, such as Billiards. I wonder if we can use maths to solve other games which involve logic, such as Minesweeper? haha

TED talk:

I was surprised when he said the Apple logo was designed based on the Golden Ratio. I never realised Apple put that much thought into making their logo. I also found it surprising that a section of DNA also has the Golden Ratio.

How to measure beauty:“Is human beauty just about numbers? Why or why not?”
No, I don’t think human beauty is just about numbers. As human beings we have personalities which define us as much as our physical appearance does, if not more importantly. More than just numbers count towards human beauty.

Artwork Assessment Ideas by Andy

I was flipping through my book and I tried to find what I would be able to construct which would not only be good but not too hard too.

So at the end I decided on:

1. Creating a fractal  which incorporates the Golden Ratio

2. A drawing incorporating the 4 colour theorm and maybe the golden ratio and symmetry

3 Finally just a circle fractal within a circle another golden triangle or spiral etc..

Iterated Functions by Andy

This lesson we really explored more about fractals but this unlike other lessons was more mathematical, where as the other lessons we did drawings and watched videos etc.. So it was a change and I was really up for the challenge!! It began with us understanding the fractals that we did the previous lessons and we were introduced to bounded and unbounded sequences. This was a bit confusing at first but I got it eventually! After we explored numbers can be bounded and unbounded and we concluded the double with us incorporating complex numbers which was really interesting to find the solution for the certain question. Before the course began I wanted to do complex numbers and this gave a goo insight and I really like the topic.

Exploring Maths 4 (by@ria_chanana)

Today’s double
lesson was quite fascinating.

We learnt about
Iterated Function systems which is a method of constructing fractals.

Fractals are so cool
as it exhibits a repeating pattern.

The Mandelbrot set
was absolutely amazing.

Its so much fun
looking at pictures that repeat themselves as we look closer.

I had fun doing the
calculations and finding out whether a number is bounded or unbounded too.

Exploring Maths 5 (AT2 Artwork ideas) (by@ria_chanana)

Ideas

Use symmetry with a polygon
(like we did with the square) and then use the 4 colour theorem on it to
make it look even more beautiful. (I am thinking of using triangles or
perhaps pentagons.)

Make up an extremely hard
bounded function and draw it.

I really want to do something
related to the Koch snowflake as it is very artistic however I was away on
the lesson and don’t know how to draw it. I also want it to have the 4
colour theorem.

Artwork project (by @annabel_hui)

Hello Mr. Woo,

For this artwork project, I have the following ideas:

1. Draw a cross combined with the idea of symmetry and the 4-colour theorem.

2. make up my own fractal

3. Create my own cartoon according to the golden ratio, and I’ll colour it up using the idea of the 4-colour theorem.

Artwork Project (@iamjazzyh)

For my artwork, I could either do:

1. A different take on the Golden Spiral

2. A fractal (such as the Koch Triangle) with artistic colouring

3. A fractal of my own
